I went through a few nights of restless sleep a while ago. Voices, images and complicated dreams kept me just above much needed sleep. I get up on nights like these, writing in my journal to try to make sense of the cacophony of noise in my head. Later that morning I started a new painting blocking in spaces of colour and overlaying with whatever marks came to mind. This painting came close to capturing the confusion of nonsense and emotion that had kept me awake.
