I am so grateful to the farmers who keep Metchosin rural by raising sheep and allowing Metchosin citizens to keep their property rural by grazing sheep in their fields. Loss of habitat is a prime driver in the loss of species diversity across the animal and plant kingdoms. WWF states that the rapid loss of species we are seeing today is estimated by experts to be between 1,000 and 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate. This is not good news.
